Lending a helping hand to a student satisfied my soul

When I was pursuing my B-Tech Degree, I got accommodation at the university hostel. My hostel was a three-storeyed building with about 10 rooms accommodating two students each. I remember in my Third Year, we had a winter break and most of the students had left for the vacation barring a few. On my floor, I and another student studying another course were the only residents who stayed back. His room was on the right wing while mine was on the left.

Suddenly, one night while I was in my room, I heard a hurried knock at the door. I opened the door. I was stunned to find a student with his face swollen and he was in a pretty anxious state.

I got to know that it happened to him suddenly and he needed to see a doctor. I immediately informed the warden on call since he was on vacation as well and got him admitted to the city hospital. The doctor said that it was a certain medical condition due to excess protein and there was nothing to worry about, but he needed to take some medication and be in observation.

So I said I would stay back as his family were in a different city and were anxious. I bought him food and medication since there were no hospital staff at that hour. The next day, in the afternoon, he was discharged and feeling better although the swelling still hadn't fully gone. He thanked me and I was just relieved that it all turned out well in the end.
